The Class B Tall Ship Maybe has confirmed she will be making her first visit to the Port of Sunderland to take part in the Tall Ships Races 2018.
Class A sail training ship Lord Nelson will be joining her in Port in Sunderland East End for the four days of sail celebrations from 11th-14th July 2018.
Another Class A entrant to the Sunderland Tall Ships Races 2018 is Norway’s Christian Radich, built in 1937 and a regular participant in The Tall Ships’ Races.
There’s quite a line-up of Class A Tall Ships joining them including The Eendratcht,
The Fryderyk Chopin, The Gulden Leeuw, The Loa, The MIR, Morgenster, Oosterschelde,
Santa Maria Manuela, Shtandart, Sorlandet, EENDRACHT, Tarangini and The Wylde Swan, all Class A Tall Ships.
A Class A Tall Ship is defined as a vessel over 131 feet length (40 metres).
Class B rigged vessels are less than 40 metres and with a waterline length of 9.14 metres.

Class C Tall Ships are defined as modern rigged vessels such as ketches, schooners, yawls and Bermudan rigged sloops with an LOA of less than 40 metres and with a waterline length of at least 9.14 metres not carrying spinnaker-like sails.
Class C Tall Ship confirmed visitors to Sunderland Tall Ships 2018 are:Black Diamond of Durham,
Esprit, James Cook, Ocean Scout, Spaniel, Tara, CHALLENGE WALES, HOSANNA, Vahine and Zenobe Gramme.
Class D Tall Ships display spinnaker-like sails.
Class D confirmations to date are Rona ||, ARIES, Tuulelind and Urania.
So that’s 44 confirmations from some of the best Tall Ships which will make this Sunderland Tall Ships Race 2018, a spectacular sight which will be hard to beat.
