The Boars Head Bistro in Sunderland East End is now open again.
Un-rivalled views both up the River Wear over the Sunderland Fish Quay towards Wearmouth Bridge, and downstream towards the Sunderland Marina, considered to be some of the best views in Sunderland East End.

The Boars Head Bistro offers Breakfast, Teas & Coffee, followed by Lunch and Evening meals, serving wholesome healthy food, preferably sourced locally.

Some walls display old maps of the area, ie: "Raines Eye Map 1785" + other dates & local street maps which Patrons can identify where they lived. Sunderland City Council local history section have agreed to offer professional assistance with this.

The Local pub has always been the centre of knowledge in any area. Boars Head Bistro, Coffee Shop & Boutique Hotel in Sunderland East End would like to carry on with this role, informing local patrons and visitors of Sunderland Events, to be able to link in with all of the other local heritage organisations activities, to advise patrons of what is happening where & when, and to stock & distribute leaflets of their events with a board of what's happening in the Sunderland Heritage Quarter.

Videos are played of Old Sunderland showing 1900s + local interest videos of entertainment, variety, Government information Films of Food Rationing, the 1940s Soup Kitchen Etc onto 4 large screen TVs.

These videos include footage of old musical singing stars, music hall acts such as The Andrews Sisters, Beverley Sisters, and Sunderland local acts Bobby Thompson, Bobby Knoxall, and background music from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

The Boars Head Bistro will be a meeting point/drop in centre for other heritage quarter enterprises, without duplicating their efforts, and to be a central part of the jigsaw of Sunderland East End as it always has been in the past.

The Boars Head Bistro has many WEB cameras installed looking up & down the River Wear 24 Hours a day, timely for the Tall Ships Race Sunderland 2018 from 11th till 14th July which will also be utilised when there is a speaker in the Boars Head to broadcast it live on the WEB site.

The Tall Ships Race is soon followed just two weeks later with Sunderland International Air Show,  and there should be plenty to see  of this from our Outside Terrace.

The Boars Head web site will also link to all social media sites to promote the Sunderland Heritage Quarter.

Special Monthly Historic talks are planned along with a buffet evening styled upon Betty's Tea Rooms and The Botanist, with Historic Sunderland, part of the Sunderland Events Programme.

As the area is in Sunderland Historic Quarter we would also like to have in the summer time some outdoor activities with music being a theme, but in keeping with the character of Sunderland Historic Quarter, Covent Garden style.

Using old furniture in the building as chairs & tables (Old cast iron Singer/Jones sewing machines as tables) other old dining furniture + “traditional North East Food” as a part of the Menu + traditional Northern drinks as well as our speciality cocktails, exclusive to The Boars Head Bistro, Coffee Shop & Boutique Hotel in Sunderland East End.
